As
we prepare for the holiday season, the American Red Cross of North
Central Florida will have our Second Annual 5K run on the University of
Florida Campus. We would love to see you there!
December
12, 2009 – 8:30 am - Phillips Center for the Performing Arts
Here are some interesting facts:
- $20 will pay for your registration for the 5K, it will also buy a
pair of shoes for a disaster client who has lost their house due to flooding or other
local disasters.
- A 5K is just a little over 3 miles. The American Red Cross
provides every disaster client with an average of 3 nights in a hotel after a disaster.
- Last year’s Run for
the American Red Cross had 141 registrants while the North Central
Florida Chapter provided Disaster Assistance to 151 families in our
area.
- Our first place finisher in last year’s race finished in 17 min
17 seconds. A Christmas tree can ignite and cause a fully
involved
house fire in less time than that.
